Rescue efforts continued into the night in Bangkok to clear rubble and rescue any survivors from a powerful earthquake that hit Thailand and neighbouring Myanmar on Friday. Bangkok city authorities said the number of confirmed dead was now 10, nine at the site of a collapsed high-rise under construction near the capital’s popular Chatuchak market, while 78 people were still unaccounted for. Meanwhile in Myanmar's capital Naypyidaw, crew worked Saturday to pull survivors out from collapsed buildings. They also repaired damaged roads, while electricity, phone and internet services remained down for most of the city.
