Nandigram Chaos, Huge Security As Mamata Banerjee Visits Poll Booth

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today voted in the assembly election in Nandigram constituency, from where she is contesting. The day saw a face-off between BJP and Trinamool Congress workers at a polling booth. Ms Banerjee was caught between the two warring groups for more than an hour. She dialled Governor Jagdeep Dhankar from Nandigram and told him that the situation was a failure of the Election Commission, which was in charge of law and order. The Election Commission has sought a report on the matter from the local administration. Nandigram - the centrepiece of the Bengal elections, where the Chief Minister is facing her protege-turned arch rival Suvendu Adhikari - voted today in the second phase.
