In yet another recent attack, a roadside bomb hit a convoy of foreign diplomats visiting northwest Pakistan on Sept 22. Fortunately none of the diplomats sustained injuries, however, recent attack led to the death of a police officer. After the bombing, police imposed a curfew and soldiers with local police officials launched search operation. As per Swat police, the diplomats were visiting the Swat valley area on the invitation of the local chamber of commerce. No one has so far claimed responsibility for the attack, which was condemned by Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari. All the nearly dozen diplomats from different countries were safe and were heading back to Islamabad, police said. The militants have stepped up their attacks since late 2022 after breaking a ceasefire with the government. Last Month in August, as many as 73 were killed in multiple attacks in Pakistan's Balochistan. The BLA claimed the responsibility for the attack, releasing an official circular after the completion of 'Ops Herof'.
