A stairway to the roof of the world is about to be opened. India and China will renew border trade at 14,000 feet at Nathu La on July 6, the first time since the Chinese war of 1962. The items of trade are not exactly hot stuff – yak's tail, goat skin and horses from China, cycles, coffee and barley from India. With the world watching, this small step could herald a giant leap in Indo-China ties.
