Navy's disaster policy makes evacuation easier
The navy's role in the evacuation of Indians from war-torn Beirut has been made much easier by its new disaster policy formulated after the tsunami in 2004. Every naval warship that sails out to sea now carries a container of relief supplies, including ready to eat meals. These stores, it transpires, are godsends for the people being pulled out of Beirut.
