Known for its robust 'Kadak Chai', Assam's tea industry is fighting a battle with extreme weather and climate change, so much so that tea gardens are nearly missing out on the second flush period when plants start growing new leaves to be harvested. The product in the second flush has the best quality characterized by a bold flavour. As weather patterns in the tea growing regions have gone erratic, experts feel the tea industry in Assam is facing the consequences of climate change.
