India has been shaken by a wave of brutal lynchings in the name of the cow that do not seem to stop even after the Supreme Court weighed in asking the government to act. Why do these murders take place, again and again? One of the factors that convey to the lynch mobs a sense of impunity could be the absence of punishment.
