In the earlier ten years of UPA rule, Rahul Gandhi tells NDTV's Ravish Kumar that he made a "commitment" to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, saying he would not interfere in his government's functioning. "From Day 1 (of UPA government), I had made it clear that Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister and that I was working only to strengthen Congress," Mr Gandhi said. On being asked if he was now ready to take an active leadership role, Mr Gandhi said he would accept the people's mandate after May 23.
