Amid the political upheaval in anarchy-ruled Syria, Israel has intensified its attempts to capture Damascus. The Israeli Defence Forces on December 10 continues its areal operations targeting Syrian weaponry. Jerusalem fears that the weaponry could fall into the hands of rebel forces after President Assad’s ouster. Citing 2 Syrian security sources, The Times of Israel reported that Israeli planes bombed at least 3 major Syrian army air bases. The army bases housed dozens of helicopters & jets in one of massive strikes on air bases since Assad’s ousted. The Israeli strikes hit Qamishli Air Base, Shinshar Base and Aqrba Airport, Times of Israel cited the sources. Israeli PM Netanyahu on Dec 10 said that it has been taking measures to head off any threat that could emerge after overthrow. Earlier, the Israeli military on Dec 7 said that it deployed additional forces to Israeli-occupied Golan Heights near the Syrian border.
