Mumbai's COVID-19 cases have crossed the 40,000-mark. A team of doctors and nurses that has reached the city from various parts of Kerala have said that the situation is "alarming" in Maharashtra. Dr Santhosh Kumar SS, Deputy Superintendent of Trivandrum Medical College, heading the team of professionals in Mumbai, speaking to NDTV, said, "There is an urgent need of nurses and doctors in Mumbai. Patients are running from one hospital to another in ambulances. I urge doctors from across India to come in and help as volunteers. Otherwise, patients will die on the roads."
