Chinese President Xi Jinping will be in India on a two-day visit starting Friday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Xi Jinping holding an informal summit near Chennai October 11 and 12. India and China made the announcement simultaneously this morning, just two days before the summit. Government sources say there has been "needless speculation" on why the Chinese President's visit wasn't announced till today." We have had a clear confirmation for weeks but we had jointly decided to announce it only a couple of days earlier," said a senior official. The visit comes after a series of irritants between both countries in recent weeks over India's moves in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, which saw Beijing openly criticise New Delhi at the UN Security Council meeting.
