The New Education Policy has triggered a heated exchange between the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu and the centre, The DMK says the three-language policy is a ploy to impose Hindi. Denying this, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has stopped 2150 crore funds due for the state's Samagra Shiksha programme which Chief Minister M K Stalin calls blackmail and coercion. Speaking to NDTV's Sam Daniel, the state's School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi says NEP is flawed and would lead to an increase in school dropouts and has appealed to other states too to protect their mother tongue and learn English as well.
