In an exclusive interview with NDTV's Editor-In-Chief Sanjay Pugalia on Friday, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said southern states have developed fast in certain indicators, so they feel they are not getting enough resources that they deserve from the Finance Commission. "Whichever government is in power, the states in the south should speak to the Finance Commission. They should explain the challenges they face and areas they need to improve, and not ignore them just because they have done well in other indicators," Ms Sitharaman said. "Similarly, funds should not be given based only on population. It is important to see their development indicator," she added.
