Increase Covid Tests, Watch New Strains, Centre Tells States
The centre has written to states witnessing a spike in daily Covid cases, asking them to increase testing and genome sequencing to check for new strains. It has also asked states to speed up the pace of vaccinations. Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minster Uddhav Thackeray has warned that if cases keep rising, lockdown will be back. Amravati district is under a week's lockdown from today and restrictions have been imposed in Pune.
