Night curfew will be imposed in Delhi from 10 pm to 5 am starting tomorrow, the city government said today as the national capital reported 290 fresh cases of Covid - a 16% jump from yesterday - and one related death in 24 hours; India is witnessing a rise in cases of violence against religious minorities recently. Churches have been attacked and Christmas celebrations disrupted in many places. In Assam's Silchar last night, there was a major commotion in Church Road when right-wing group members disrupted Christmas celebrations, forcing hundreds of people from different religions to leave the church premises; thousands of people in Kolkata were seen crowding public places to celebrate Christmas on Saturday with few wearing masks and even fewer showing any caution amid growing coronavirus cases in several parts of the country and the Omicron alert. In videos from Kolkata's iconic Park Street, large crowds were seen surging through the commercial hub.
