For the first time, India has official confirmation that fugitive jeweler Nirav Modi, the man at the centre of an over Rs 13,000 crore bank fraud, is now in the United Kingdom. With that confirmation, the CBI has moved a request to London to extradite the celebrity jeweler. Earlier this month, the Enforcement Directorate had also placed a request to extradite him. All this as a case for the extradition of liquor baron Vijay Mallya is still being heard by a court in Britain where India has to submit a video of the jail cell where he will be kept. So is this going to be yet another wild goose chase or for the first time, does India actually have a chance of getting back a fraudster who has swindled the banking system on a massive scale?
