Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury today claimed in the Lok Sabha that the BJP-led government's lack of long-term vision was to blame for the slowdown in the country's growth, and wondered if it wouldn't be more apt to address Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman as "Nirbala" Sitharaman. His reference to the Finance Minister as "Nirbala", the Hindi word for powerless, was seen as an insinuation that she was not being allowed to take her own decisions on matters related to the country's economy.
