Nitish Kumar today exited the alliance with Lalu Prasad Yadav's Rastriya Janata Dal and resigned as Bihar Chief Minister after days of political speculation. Soon after, he staked claim to form a new government with the support of the BJP, his former ally. "He can say what he wants now. But the people of Bihar and the nation is watching him. It has become a joke in every household. Nitish Kumar could have had a good name in history but look what he has done now. It has become a matter of joke in every household,'" said Congress leader Pawan Khera.
