The harvest festival of Pongal will be celebrated on Saturday in Tamil Nadu, but it appears there will be no Jallikattu on festival day with the Supreme Court today turning down plea to revisit the ban on the bull taming festival before Pongal. The Supreme Court had ruled that bulls could not be used as performing animals but, the state's demand to lift a 2014 ban on Jallikattu is growing louder, with the AIADMK's top leadership - Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and Sasikala Natarajan leading the calls for the centre to lift the ban via an ordinance. Animal rights activists have called the controversial sport cruel and inhuman so will those positions be revisited before Saturday? Will centre oblige and take the ordinance route? Can there be a middle ground on this? We debate on The Buck Stops Here.
