No need for Chief of Defence staff: PV Naik

For the first time in years, a service chief has questioned the need to have a Chief of Defence Staff as a single point military adviser in India. In an exclusive interview to NDTV, Air Chief Marshal PV Naik said the time is not right to have a Chief of Defence staff. The remarks come against the backdrop of an intense debate within the defence establishment over the need to have a chief of defence staff to bring more synergy between the three services like elsewhere in the world.
