Postal ballot facility for people above the age of 65 - granted by the Election Commission earlier this month, will not be operative for the Bihar assembly elections or the by-polls scheduled to be held later this year. The Commission said it was done "due to logistics, manpower and safety protocols of COVID-19". The Commission had earlier recommended extension of postal ballot to people over the age of 65 years, and others vulnerable to coronavirus.
