'Nobody Knows How Deep The Dissatisfaction Is In China': Policy Expert
China's Communist Party will hold its mega meeting this Sunday. When asked how protests in China should be viewed in the run-up to the 20th meeting of the ruling Communist Party, where Xi Jinping is expected to secure a third leadership term, foreign policy expert Jonah Blank says, "Nobody knows how deep the dissatisfaction goes and that must be somewhat frightening to the leadership." He says the willingness of the protesters to come out in the streets, knowing the consequences, stands to tell how frustrated they are.
