The Congress, on the offensive in the Nirav Modi bank fraud cases, finds itself on the backfoot tonight after Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh's son-in-law found himself among several officials named by the CBI in the latest bank fraud case. Gurpal Singh, the Chief Minister's son-in-law, is a Deputy Managing Director in Ghaziabad-based Simbhaoli Sugars Ltd, a sugar refinery accused of cheating the Oriental Bank of Commerce of Rs 109 crore. The Congress first tweeted the scam - saying another bank scam under the nose of the BJP government - and then deleted it. However, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh released a statement in the evening, defending his son-in-law, saying he is a minority shareholder and has nothing to do with the scam. Tonight, on Reality Check, we discuss the Congress link to bank scam.
