Objection, Your Honour: Outrage Over HC's 'Not Rape' Ruling

The Allahabad High Court's recent ruling on rape has been slammed by some members of the legal fraternity and also some lawmakers.  Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annpurna Devi today said the Supreme Court should intervene. The Allahabad High Court had, on March 17, said actions like grabbing breasts or snapping a pyjama string do not constitute rape or an attempt to rape but rather attract the lesser charge of aggravated sexual assault. The Supreme Court will now hear the matter on March 24 after a PIL sought the expunging of the controversial part/wrong interpretation of the statute. Watch The Last Word.
