Odisha Woman, 70, Who Walked Several Kilometres To Bank For Pension

Surya Harijan, 70, had to walk several kilometres bare foot under the scorching sun, with a broken chair as a walking aid to receive her pension in the Nabarangpur district of Odisha. Earlier, the government used to give pensions in cash, but now they are transferred directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries in a bid to stop corruption.
