Odisha Women On a Mission to Educate Villagers On Maternal Health, Nutrition and Sanitation
As part of the effort to reduce the maternal and infant mortality in Odisha, Shakti Varta programme has brought about much needed coordination in the services provided to the community by the departments of Health, Women and Child Development, and Rural Development. In Odisha, the initiative is spread around 24,000 villages in 15 districts. Owing to the success, the plan is now to reach out to the remaining 15 districts of the state.
