The Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijeju today declined to comment when asked a very specific question by NDTV on India's stance on Dalai Lama and on officials being told to stay away from Tibetan functions to mark 60 years in exile of the Dalai Lama. Earlier, the Ministry of External Affairs had said India's position on the Dalai Lama has not changed after a media report had come out stating that the centre has asked officials to stay away from such functions, since this is a "sensitive time" for India-China ties. India had given shelter to the Dalai Lama in 1959 when the spiritual leader fled Tibet during an uprising there.
