One for the ladies: Uttaranchal fairs mark Sankranti

Makar Sankranti is the start of a new year in Uttaranchal and of the many festivals during the year the first one is for the ladies. During the two-day celebrations, 2000 villagers from 25 villages gather to attend a fair meant especially for daughters and daughters in law who haven't visited home in a while.
