Online protests vs water cannons
On The Social Network, we discuss whether online petitions like Namita Bhandare's with over 1 lakh signatures to the government to provide solutions for a safer India for women and the recent petition to cancel Honey Singh's concert are now becoming more influential than pouring out on to the streets bearing lathis and water cannons. We are joined by Namita Bhandare, journalist and petitioner, Raheel Khurshid, who is director communications of Change.org, Priyanka Chaturvedi, who is a member of the Youth Congress, and Rita Banerjie, a gender rights activist. Also Saikat Ghosh, who is a professor and a protest organiser.
