Orissa Agriculture Minister has charged the UPA of letting down the state's farmers by fixing the minimum support price for paddy at Rs 850 per quintal, Rs 150 less than what they had demanded. A couple of days ago the Centre hiked the price from Rs 745 to 850 a quintal. The state Agriculture Minister Surendra Nath Nayak has also said that the statement of the Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram that it was Orissa government, which had recommended an MSP of Rs 850 is false.
