Pak Bangladesh News | Md Yunus Wants To Build Stronger Ties With Pakistan, India Watches Development

The Chief Advisor of the interim government of Bangladesh has called for “stronger ties with Pakistan” after meeting with Pakistani Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch. Baloch held meetings with her Bangladeshi counterpart Md. Jashim Uddin as part of the Foreign Office Consultation (FOC) between the two countries which took place after a gap of 15 years. Amna Baloch’s visit comes days ahead of Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar's visit to Dhaka on April 27 and 28. In recent times, Bangladesh has drifted apart from India and preferred to build stronger ties with China and Pakistan. Yunus’s comment on India’s northeast lead to a sharp rebuttal with Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivering a strong message to the Chief Advisor. Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Jashim Uddin however took a more cautious tone when describing Bangladesh’s diplomatic inclinations in the recent past.
