Protests at the Panjab University turned violent today after students clashed with police over steep fee hike. The students tried to force entry into the Vice-Chancellor's office and were stopped by the police, which brought water cannons and tear gas to control the crowd. Some police officers were injured trying to stop the protests. The university, on Sunday, had approved a 12.5 per cent fee hike for all courses. Parents from across the country have been protesting the hike.
