Patients Spend Rs 3.3 Lakh A Year Out-Of-Pocket On Cancer Treatment: Study
A study published in Frontiers in Public Health found that cancer patients spend Rs 3.3 lakh per year out-of-pocket on treatment regardless of their insurance coverage. Health insurances only cover inpatient care and even in that initial diagnostics are not covered. The study found that an average patient spends Rs 8,000 of their own money per outpatient consultation. Is it time to rethink health insurance models?
