Mizoram has been hit with shortage of fuel and daily need items, as supplies have been disrupted in the landlocked state. Hundreds of trucks were stranded due to dilapidated conditions of NH-306 and NH-06, the lifeline of the state. The Mizoram Oil Tanker Driver Association (MOTDA) and Petroleum Entrepreneurs' and Transporters' Union of Mizoram (PETUM) decided no tankers will ply the highway from September 17, 2024. The two organisations stated that National Highways 306 & 6 are in bad shape, which makes it dangerous for tankers to ply on the roads; and that many tankers had to be repaired due to the bad roads, leading to high costs in transportation of petrol and diesel.
