Thirty seven seats will go into polls in the fifth phase of district development council election in Jammu and Kashmir. The first election after scrapping the special status, spread over eight phases, is witnessing a moderate to high voter turnout across 20 districts. Several former ministers and MLAs are contesting . While BJP has launched an aggressive campaign and deputed central leaders including Union Ministers for campaigning, regional party leaders like Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti have not carried out any election campaign so far.
