Philippines Ex-president In ICC Custody To Face Murder Charges For Drug War Killings

Former Philippine President Duterte has been taken into custody by the ICC on March 12. Duterte was arrested in Manila on murder charges linked to his "war on drugs". The 79-year-old arrived at Rotterdam Airport on a chartered plane and was transferred to a detention unit. As per ICC, He will be brought before an ICC judge in Hague in upcoming days for an initial appearance. The warrant accused Duterte of creating, funding, and arming death squads to kill alleged drug users and dealers. Duterte's war on drugs, which killed thousands, was a hallmark of his presidency and sparked global condemnation.
