iGate, Apax close to buy Patni Computers for $1 bn

Sources say a consortium of private-equity firms Apax Partners and iGate are close to buying 60 percent of Patni Computers. The consortium have emerged as the favourites after the withdrawal of the Carlyle-Advent bid. Sources say the consortium has offered about Rs. 500 a share for the stake.
