NDTV's Prannoy Roy discusses the outcome of the assembly elections in five states, and whether the BJP's overarching campaign revolving around the Ram temple issue has backfired. BJP parliamentarian Rakesh Sinha said the Ram Janmabhoomi issue has "never been the plank of elections". "It is the non-BJP parties that oppose the Ram Janmabhoomi and that (makes it) becomes an election issue..." Mr Sinha said. National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah questioned the BJP on the timing of raising the Ayodhya issue. "Why wasn't Ram temple issue raised as soon as you won the (general) elections (in 2014)? Why did you stop in these four-and-a-half years?"
