Chaos in Rajya Sabha threatens Lokpal vote
With just 45 minutes to go before this Parliament session expires, the Rajya Sabha debate on the Lokpal Bill is being hijacked by chaos. A member of Lalu Prasad Yadav's party has ripped up a copy of the bill and thrown it in the House. The Samajwadi Party has begun shouting that the bill is "useless" and should be "taken back." Sitaram Yechury of the Left asked Chairman of the House Hamid Ansari to explain if the session will continue past midnight. "That is what is agitating many members," he said. "We will finish before midnight," Mr Ansari replied. That seems near impossible.
