At the 12-hour #SwasthyaMantra telethon, Dr. Nabaneeta Rudra, Senior Technical Advisor- Water, Sanitation & Hygiene, Plan International talked about the challenges faced by the organisation in bid to get work done on ground in the pandemic. She said, "When coronavirus hit India, there was fear among each one of us, even the frontline workers. There was also shortage of personal protective equipments. We discussed with the government to open nutrition centres so that day-to-day nutritional tasks are done and whatever the country has achieved over the last decade doesn't go to a waste. We also started working on distributing seeds to pregnant mothers. Each month we are doing growth monitoring with the government. The nutrition days are being conducted every month. We have realised how important it is to mobilise food for the people, deliver dry ration and sanitation kits to their homes and moreover how important is to keep the workers safe in the pandemic who are actually helping meet these tasks."
