"This is just a statement of intent. The government did not bring an official bill. The constitution says that it is the duty of the state to secure for the citizens a uniform civil code throughout the territory of India. This has been defined by the people who wrote the constitution,' Ratan Sharda, author, RSS 360, Sangh & Swaraj, said when asked whether the BJP high command understands that it is a contentious bill.
