Around five million salaried Indians have lost their jobs in July alone due to the nationwide coronavirus lockdown - in place since the end of March to curb the spread of the deadly virus, the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy said. 1.89 crore jobs have been lost since April, the centre's data showed. Dr Marion Gomes, who lost her job with an IT company in Chennai amid the coronavirus lockdown, speaks to NDTV about the "heightened period of uncertainty" brought on by the pandemic. "The job loss has affected our family. But, at the same time, we now get to share more time with each other," she said.
