Pranab Mukherjee, from Birbhum to Raisina Hill: In an interview to NDTV, the man who's almost certain to be the next President of India says he has no regrets about not being picked earlier as Prime Minister by his party. Mr Mukherjee says he appeals to estranged ally Mamata Banerjee again to support him, and that he will meet her if the occasion demands when he goes to Bengal as part of his campaign. Mr Mukherjee says he owes everything to Indira Gandhi, who he describes as his mentor. He also says that he believes the Congress must create and promote younger leaders, which is why he had decided to retire from active politics in 2014.
