India logged a record 2,17,353 daily coronavirus cases as many states grappled with shortages of hospital beds, oxygen, medicines and vaccine doses. The past week has been a nightmare for Indians. Everyone seems to know somebody or the other who has contracted the coronavirus. Everyone has a harrowing story about trying to get treatment for themselves or a loved one. A whole year has gone by and we have not built up our health infrastructure and today the tax-paying citizen is scrambling for survival on their own.
