North East Delhi, one of the seven Lok Sabha constituencies in the national capital, has been loyal to the Bharatiya Janata Party for a decade now. Manoj Tiwari, who defeated Congress stalwart and former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit in 2019 with a margin of more than 3.5 lakh votes, will now battle it out with a young, fiery Congress leader, Kanhaiya Kumar, to retain the seat. Former JNU Students' Union president Kanhaiya Kumar, who shot to fame overnight with his "Azadi" speech after a police crackdown on campus in 2016, is one of the three candidates contesting on a Congress ticket in Delhi, where the grand old party has a seat-sharing deal with INDIA bloc partner Aam Aadmi Party.
