Lokpal Bill to go to select committee?
Even as it prepares for a tough battle in Rajya Sabha over the Lokpal Bill, the government is facing one hurdle after another. After key ally, the Trinamool Congress, expressed its displeasure and asked the 14 pages of the bill which deal with Lokayuktas or anti-corruption agencies at the state level to be dropped, there are now reports that the Lokpal Bill could be sent to a select committee.
