Mahavir Phogat Express Disappointment Over Vinesh Phogat Joining Politics

Vinesh Phogat's uncle, Mahavir Phogat, expressed his sadness over her decision to retire, believing she should continue until the 2028 Olympics to fulfill his dream of winning a gold medal. Although she did well in the Paris Olympics, her disqualification in the final and failure to secure gold left the public disheartened. Mahavir thinks it would have been better if she had delayed her retirement until after the 2028 Olympics. Mahavir Phogat said, "...She did very well in Paris Olympics but got disqualified in the final. It is my personal opinion that she should participate in 2028 Olympics. Gold medal is my dream, she did not get it but the people of India gave her immense love and they had expected a Gold from her. People were disheartened...The decision that she has taken, I am saddened by it. But had she taken this decision after 2028 Olympics, it would have been better."
