Many Clueless About Legal Battle Ahead As Nearly 2 Million Left Out Of NRC
Assam's National Register of Citizens or NRC released on Saturday has left out close to 2 million people anxious, thousands of them who were had been called for urgent re-verification last month from places as far as 400 km away. What lies ahead of them is uncertain, even though as the government has assured free legal help to the poor. Lakhs of people don't know the reason they have been excluded out of the NRC and how law can help them register themselves as citizens.
