DMK MP and former telecom minister Dayanidhi Maran reiterated Tamil Nadu's demand for exemption from NEET amid the controversy over irregularities in results. The state had no entrance tests for nearly a decade and it made medical admissions based on Class 12 marks, arguing that NEET favours affluent students who can afford private coaching and doesn't give a level playing field to high-scoring students from poor families and rural areas who can't afford private coaching.
