No top honour for 26/11 martyrs?
On January 26, four of the sixteen Mumbai policemen who died during the 26/11 terror attacks will be honoured with Ashok Chakras. Thirteen Mumbai Policemen had been recommended for the honour, but only four including the late ATS Chief Hemant Karkare made the cut. The government has already said it would not be possible for it to give the Ashok Chakra to everyone recommended, as it's the highest award given during peace time.
